I'm afraid that today's doodle was a super quick sketch. Guess what I was watching.

I've just started reading King's Fool by Margaret Campbell Barnes, and am greatly enjoying it. So, today's drawing needed to be the lovely Mistress Joanna. (I do realise that unbound hair is an anachronism, but there is a scene where she takes her hair down while pretending to be Persephone.)

I've seen a bunch of these "Year in Review" posts floating about, and thought it looked enjoyable. So, I poked around on my computer quickly and pulled one together. I'd say I've had a good year for drawing.

Day 10.

I was going through some stacks of old notebooks and things on my desk today, and came across a ridiculously old set of comic strips I had drawn. They’re mostly really terrible, but I remember being quite fond of them at the time. They centred around Rhosyn and her friend Gwyn, and I decided it was time to (once again) redesign Rhosyn.

She had started initially as part of a series of comic strips I was going to draw to help myself learn Welsh.

Then, just became part of a series of not so amusing jokes based on odd conversations.

And, apparently, went through a brief period as a super-heroine.

So, I decided it was time to give her a slightly more useful make-over. Maybe I’ll actually revive some of the plot lines I had in store for her at some point. One way or another, it is really nice to look back and realise: why yes, my drawing ability has grown over time.

Snowy days are perfect for settling in with a cup of tea and a book.

I might actually fix up and paint this one at some point - I rather like it. Though, I'll definitely use a ruler on the knot-work.

(I live far enough north that you'd think I would have snow by now. Alas, it is not so. Time to start leaving hot cocoa offerings to the snow gods.)

I nearly forgot that it was the first of December! Which, of course, means that it is time to post a drawing a day on my blog for advent. For today, a value sketch of an Elizabethan lady.
